Governor's Workforce Fund Overview

Purpose of the Fund

  • To create and retain living wage jobs in Oregon;
  • To build a highly skilled workforce, especially in knowledge-based industries;
  • To enhance the global competitiveness of Oregon businesses, based on the skills of their workforce.

How can funds be used:  Job attached training for Oregon-based businesses.
The funds are for training of current workers to upgrade skills, gain certifications, and increase the ability of workers to compete in the global, knowledge-based economy.

Who Qualifies:  Businesses or worker associations located in Oregon for at least 120 days that need assistance to increase the skills of their workforce and increase competitiveness.
How will funds be distributed: 

35% of funds will be reserved by the Governor and the State for statewide initiatives.
65% of funds will be distributed to regional Workforce Response Teams to invest in Oregon businesses in their regions.
