Marketing and Communications PDF Print E-mail
Oregon community colleges and high schools have been moving forward on multiple fronts to market and communicate about Career Pathways to a wide variety of audiences.

In March 2006, a statewide Pathways Marketing & Communications Committee was formed, chaired by Jim Schoelkopf, Department of Education Career & Technical Education Director, and Mimi Maduro, Pathways Initiative Statewide Director.   Twelve representatives from high school and community colleges across the state meet monthly to forge plans and strategies for coordinated and leveraged marketing and communications efforts at the local and state levels.

In December 2006, the Committee completed a statewide Marketing & Communications Plan.  The Oregon Employment Department, in its annual "Careers" newspapers has included a "Pathways" section and participates on the statewide committee. In addition, numerous colleges have developed Career Pathways marketing materials, including brochures, websites, and direct mailers to district residents, as well as re-designed community college catalog to reflect Career Pathways.

In 2009, The Pathways Statewide Marketing Committee Collaborated with the Oregon Workforce Investment Board Communications Committee and the Oregon Association of Broadcasting to develop a 30-second TV/radio spot that was aired over a three-month period that same year.  A webpage was also developed to access career pathway websites at the 17 community colleges:
